Mining Engineers
Responsible for planning and overseeing our mining operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Skills: Project management, problem-solving, and knowledge of mining software
Geologists
Studies the earth’s composition, structure, and other physical aspects to locate and analyse our coal deposits.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Experience: Fieldwork experience is often required.
- Skills: Analytical skills, knowledge of geological software, and field mapping
Heavy Equipment Operators
0perates machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and trucks used in mining operations.
- Education: Matric or equivalent. Code 10 Driver’s Certification / licenced to operate specific heavy machinery.
- Experience: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Certification and experience in operating /driving on or more of the following:
– Excavators, bulldozers, graders
– Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT)
– Rigid Dump Trucks (RDT)
– Service Trucks
– Water Bowsers - Skills: Driving / operating skills, knowledge of and attention to safety regulations and protocols, time management, basic mechanical skills, coordination.
Blasters
Use explosives to break up rock and coal seams while managing a team of employees and ensuring all safety protocols are observed.
- Education: Matric, N3 or equivalent. Certification in handling explosives (Blasting Ticket)
- Experience: Working in an open caste mining environment
- Skills: Precision, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
Mine Surveyors
Measures and maps our mining sites to ensure accurate extraction, quantity measurement and Mine Safety.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience with surveying equipment and mine management software. (AVA)
- Skills: Attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency in CAD software.
Health and Safety Officers
Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations to protect workers and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Education: Matric or Equivalent Certification in Safety Management.
- Required: Chamber of Mines Safety Officers Course level 1 &2
- Desirable: COMSOC 3
- Experience: Work within an open cast mining environment in safety management.
- Skills: Knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, and communication skills.
Environmental Engineers
Manage the environmental impact of our mining activities, including waste management and land reclamation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in environmental management.
- Skills: Knowledge of environmental regulations, problem-solving, and project managementE
Artisans and Maintenance Technicians
Maintains and repairs our mining equipment and machinery.
- Education: Matric or N3, Technical Maintenance Training, Red Seal Trade Test.
– Diesel Mechanics
– Fitter and Turner
– Boiler Makers - Experience: Experience in maintaining and repairing heavy open cast mining machinery.
- Skills: Mechanical skills, troubleshooting, and attention to detail.
Quality Control Specialist
Ensures the coal meets quality standards before it is shipped to customers.
- Education: Martic or equivalent Certificate or Diploma in Quality Management or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in quality control processes. Knowledge of coal and coal quality management
- Skills: Analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of quality standards.
Human Resources / Personnel Officers
Manages recruitment, training, payment, and employee relations
- Education: Diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in HR management and on-site personnel administration
- Skills: Communication, organisational skills, and knowledge of labour laws.
Administrative Staff
Handles paperwork, scheduling, and other administrative tasks.
- Education: Matric or equivalent.
- Desirable: Diploma in bookkeeping
- Experience: Experience in administrative roles.
- Skills: Organizational skills, proficiency in office software, communication skills and attention to detail.
