Training Centre
Africoal places a significant focus on the training and development of its staff and contractors.
In an effort to streamline training across all operations, we have built our own training centre and development centre, which allows the provision of in-house services, the employment of trainers and facilitators and the opportunity to provide training and developmental initiatives to third parties, communities and other mining houses who would require these services.
The training centre provides a variety of programmes, including but not limited to the following:
- Induction training
- Operator certifications
- Dover testing
- Simulator training
- Training on internal procedures and standards
- Mine licensing
- Mining qualifications
- Novice training
- Artisan development programmes
- Career path guidance
The training centre has also developed a mock mine facility which is used to screen, train and prepare operators and supervisors in a controlled environment before deploying them to sites.
The development centre is focused on community development, providing opportunities for training and potential employment of members from surrounding communities.
Some of the initiatives include:
- Learnerships such as entrepreneurship, community house building, new venture creation, aquaponics.
- Skills development programmes
- Vocational adult education and training
- Business plan development
- CV writing and interview skills
- Community upliftment projects
- Internships and bursaries
The development centre complements the training centre in achieving its goals of empowering local communities and equipping people with the necessary skills and training to seek full-time employment, both within the Africoal stable and beyond.
New Venture Creation Graduation
As part of our ongoing commitment to skills development, Africoal’s New Venture Creation program provides participants with essential business skills and training to establish and manage their own ventures. This initiative is aimed at fostering entrepreneurship within our local communities, and the graduation of each individual marks a significant milestone in empowering individuals with the tools they need for long-term success.
