Willem holds a National Diploma in Marketing and Management from the Pretoria University of Technology. He also holds a National Qualification in Rock Breaking and Surface Excavation (Blasting Ticket). He is qualified in the Implementation of and holds a Lead Auditor qualification in Health and Safety Management Systems and numerous other courses with regards to Safety and Risk related responsibilities. He started his career in Mining  16 years ago as a Safety Officer and then progressed to Mine Manager.

He started his journey with Africoal in Compliance in 2020 and progressed to become the Health & Safety Manager and with his knowledge and drive towards legal compliance, he was appointed as Risk and Compliance Manager in 2023 incorporating the Safety, Training and Risk & Compliance Departments. He has a strong team orientated approach that continuously motivates his teams to great achievements.
