Africoal SA has its origin in mining, having acquired over the last 12 years, a reputation for being a successful owner operator of up to 9 mines at a single point in time. The activity on these mines included the physical mining of the coal, the beneficiation thereof, as well as the logistic solutions around the exporting of the product to either Richards Bay or Maputo.

Africoal has since expanded its operations to offer contract mining services to some of the largest players in the opencast coal mining industry using its all round knowledge of mining, beneficiating and marketing of coal to ensure it not only offers a wholistic solution but understands all aspects of our clients needs.

Africoal has always sought to differentiate itself as being a low overhead, highly concentrated contract opencast miner. The mining operations are managed in a very hands-on manner, boasting many decades of expertise within the mining management team.

From a beneficiation standpoint, Africoal are owners of a Dense Medium Separation Wash (DMS) plant valued at R350m (insured value) and boast a yellow metal mining fleet with a replacement value of over R3 billion rand. Africoal has enjoyed a very successful partnership with Genet Mineral Processing, who are an enablement partner for Africoal in transforming the run of mine coal mined by Africoal on a contract basis into sellable product pre-qualified for Eskom and or export as required by our client.
