Tiger is a seasoned mining professional with over 35 years of experience in the opencast mining industry. He began his mining career in 1987 as a Gold Mining Learner Official at Rand Mines Training Centre in Johannesburg. Following this, he completed a five-year domestic Learner Official course in Opencast Mining at Duvha Opencast Mining Services, where he developed his expertise in dragline operations, specifically with 1570 Draglines.

Over the course of two decades, Tiger advanced through the ranks to the position of Dragline Mine Overseer. During this time, he obtained both Metalliferous and Opencast Blasting Certificates and contributed to several record-breaking achievements in dragline performance. His outstanding work in dragline methodology led to international recognition, including an invitation to present at a seminar hosted by the University of Illinois in the USA.

In the past 18 years, Tiger has successfully managed a range of small and large-scale mining projects across South Africa as a Site Manager, providing contract mining services to major clients such as Glencore, Exxaro, and Anglo American. These projects have ranged in scale from 250,000 m³ to 1.4 million m³ in monthly production volumes.

Tiger joined Africoal SA in June 2025 as Mine Manager, bringing with him a wealth of practical experience, leadership, and technical knowledge in large-scale opencast mining operations.
